Calasparra is a municipality in the province of Murcia. Bathed by four rivers and two reservoirs, Calasparra enjoys a privileged location, its waters are an attraction for the traveller, not only because of the richness of its landscape but also because of the variety of activities that can be carried out (caving, canyoning... .). The descent of the Segura River-Almadenes Canyon-takes place in a Protected Natural Area of ​​Ribera Forest, where some of the last otters in the Region live.

Its more than seven hundred years of existence and the historical legacy that it still conserves bring numerous surprises to the traveller; caves with cave paintings, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sites ranging from the Palaeolithic to the Hispano-Muslim, with finds collected in the Archaeological Museum (former La Encomienda building).

Special mention deserves the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope, patron saint of Calasparra, excavated in the rock and part of a beautiful spot located on the banks of the Segura.

Rice is another of the attractions of this municipality; the quality of its varieties has made Calasparra rice known worldwide; first rice with Denomination of Origin in our country.
